.:Global Issue- Women’s Rights:.

I think one of the worst and common global issues is Women’s rights. In lots of countries around the world women don’t have rights equal to men. This has been a problem ever since life began. Even in Canada, which is free country, women used to not have as many rights as men did. In lot’s of countries women are not allowed to vote, hold office, own property, have education, equal pay, serve in military,  talk to men in public, or have parental, marital, or religious rights. Imagine not being able to go to school, choosing which faith you believe in or getting a lower salary then men because your a girl? It would be extremely unbearable.

In countries like Canada, and U.S.A, women have the same rights as men. All countries should, because we are all equal- male or female. What would men do without women? There would be no life on earth once the men all die because there would be no mother to give birth to a baby.  It’s the same case scenerio for women- if there werent any men there wouldnt be any population. We are equal.

Poverty, which is also a major global issue, is common in with women. More then half the world’s population that suffer from poverty are women. This is because in many countries women can’t go to school, or get a job because of their gender. They have no education to get a job, and can’t get one even if they did.

In many countries women aren’t considered a citizen for they aren’t allowed to do what men have rights to do, they are under the guardianship of their father or other male relative until they marry. In ancient times the father would give his daughter a dowry, a gift you can keep when you get married, so women would often find anyone to marry just to get something to own because they were not allowed to own property often. If the husband found out his wife had a dowry, he would set a trap for his wife to cause adultery. The law was – if a couple divorce, the wife gets to keep her dowry because it is rightfully hers, but if she forms adultery the husband gets all or part of it. So by sending someone to perform this act, the husband would gain her dowry.

Women have a right to education. Many women in the world have made history, what would the world do without these discoveries? Doctors, nurses, teachers, fire-fighters, soldiers, and police are all taken by roles of men and women. Both genders make history, both save lives every second of the day, both make world peace, both teach others to do the right things and improve others education, and both are equal. No matter what we are always going to be the same.
